Freya Powe
Clinical Psychologist

Freya is a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in working with children, young people and adults experiencing a broad spectrum of difficulties with their mental health. Freya holds a Master of Clinical Psychology (with Distinction) and a Bachelor of Psychology (1st class Hons). 

Freya has worked as a Clinical Psychologist in a public health setting treating clients with highly complex psychological presentations. Freya holds an acute understanding of the complexities of child and adolescent mental health. Freya has authored a publication on Strengthening the Coparenting Relationship to Improve Child Behavioural Concerns as well as short mental health information guides including the 'Anxiety Pocket Guide'.  

Freya works with adolescents and adults across a range of presentations and mental health difficulties including depression, mood and adjustment disorders, anxiety disorders including phobias, school refusal, generalised anxiety and panic disorder, OCD, self-harm, eating and body image concerns, relationship difficulties, substance use, emotional dysregulation, behavioural concerns, neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD and ASD, parenting support, trauma, stress, feeling overwhelmed and adjusting to new phases of life. 

Freya utilises evidence based practice in her treatment approach through assessment, clinical interview and establishing a strong therapeutic rapport and aligning with client goals for therapy. Freya prides herself on having an approachable, accessible and naturally warm, calm and friendly therapeutic style, whilst ensuring that treatment provides positive clinical outcomes and helps clients reach their therapeutic goals. There are many treatment approaches used in therapy, however some commonly used evidence based therapies for treatment of mental health concerns include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Circle of Security parenting, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) and Family Based Treatment for Eating Disorders (FBT). A treatment plan will be formulated together with the client following an assessment of mental health concerns to establish a clear guide for therapy. Freya is passionate about helping individuals on their mental health journey through knowledge, skill development and self-discovery.
